Compose a piece where the parts are bigger than the whole.

You have to learn the rules before you break them,
but you can’t rule the breaks if you don’t play them.

There is no shortcut: you must learn the shortcuts.

Do every Composition Exercise except this one.

Don’t explain yourself.

Preserve the paradoxical parts.

Compose a polyphonic melody, then write a monophonic fugue on it.
