Get to know your close collaborators’ families and friends.

Listen to a piece of music

as if it were composed by a good friend

who just told you they think it’s the beginning

of a new phase in their work.

Are you a good listener of your friends’ music?

If so, if not: is that deliberate?

If a friend told you about their favorite record of the decade, what kind of effort would you make to understand why they feel that way?

Check in on a musician friend who seems lonely or even isolated. Follow up regularly if appropriate.

Befriend both artists who are much older and much younger than you.
